Vella May Marshall, age 92, formerly of Ridgecrest Drive, Danville, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in the Stratford Rehab Center.
Born July 10, 1919 in Guilford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus May and Elsie Barker May. She lived most of her life in Danville and worked for Dan River Mills for 40 years in #4A dress.
Mrs. Marshall was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the Dan River Retired Employees Club. In December 1941, she married Vilmon Audry Marshall, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters: Minnie Bond and Pearl Perrow, both of Danville; her great-niece: Vickie Baker of Danville; a special friend and caregiver: Linda Mikles of Danville; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six sisters.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. J. Richard Markham will be held at the graveside in Danville Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends at Swicegood Funeral Home on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
