Anna Faye Sandifer Scott Sanders Cox, 84, of Kernersville, North Carolina, formerly of Tifton, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011, in Lawrence Cemetery. Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate with burial to follow. Family members will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Cox was born on December 14, 1926 in Irwin County and was the daughter of William E. Sandifer and Beryl Seals Sandifer, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Cox; three brothers; one sister; and one son-in-law, Melvin Hogan. She was a seamstress and worked at various textile mills and she was a member of Tift Avenue Church of God.
Mrs. Cox is survived by one daughter, Joann S. Hogan of Kernersville, North Carolina; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Wayne T. and Vonnie Scott of Climax and James Leroy Scott of Tampa, Florida; three sisters, Louise Ford of Valdosta, Lamyrle Hancock of Texarkana, Texas and Corrine Wells of Charleston, South Carolina; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
