Ricky Allen Soyars, age 54, of 789 Oak Hill Road, Danville, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in the Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 8, 1957 in Danville, he was the son of late George Allen Soyars and JoAnne Haley Soyars Hodnett, who survives. He lived his entire life in Danville, working in construction before becoming a cabinet maker with R. C. Tate Woodworks. He was a devoted and loving father and husband. Mr. Soyars was a member of Cascade Baptist Church in Cascade, Virginia.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Teresa Moore Soyars; two daughters: Cara Lynn Soyars and Rikki Lee Soyars, both of the residence; one son: Cove “Allen” Soyars, also of the residence; three sisters: Sheila Echols of Danville; Tammy Wilson and her husband Jay of Bassett, VA; Kimberly Hudson and her husband William of Danville; his step-father: Samuel Hodnett; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Cody Allen Soyars, in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 23, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. At other times, they will be at the home of his mother, JoAnne Hodnett.
