Salem: Gemma Caron, age 90 died Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Jesmond Nursing Home in Nahant, following a brief illness.
Born in St. Aubert, PQ, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Louise (St. Pierre) Caron. Gemma came to the North Shore in 1952 and first lived in Lynn, while working as a house keeper and learning the English language. She later worked for Sylvania and moved to Peabody. Following the completion of courses in real estate brokering, she left Sylvania to work as a licensed real estate agent in Peabody. Following her retirement, Gemma was able to devote her time to music, sewing, knitting, and golf.
She is survived by 2 sisters, Marie Anatole Caron and her husband Lionel Lefebvre, Madeleine Caron and her husband Laurent Toulouse, 2 brother, Albert Caron, and Thaddee Caron and his wife Blandine, all of St. Aubert, PQ, Canada. She also leaves, nieces, nephews and many friends including her devoted friend, Joan Wilkins. She was predeceased by her sister Alma Caron Lemieux.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in St. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 a.m. There will be no visiting hours. A burial service will take place in St. Aubert, PQ at a later date. For guestbook, please visit www.LevesqueFunerals.com
