Gladys V. McEndy, 92

Dateline: Norton, MA

Gladys V. (Walsh) McEndy, 92, of Norton formerly of Attleboro passed away on Saturday September 17, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis E. McEndy who died on September 7, 1984.
Born in Attleboro, MA on March 28, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Monica (Mulligan) Walsh.
Gladys grew up in Attleboro, was educated in Attleboro public schools and was a graduate of Attleboro High School.
A resident of Norton for over 50 years, Mrs. McEndy was a retired waitress, having worked at O’Brien’s Restaurant in Norton for many years prior to retiring.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton, Gladys enjoyed reading, knitting and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Family was the focal point of Mrs. McEndy’s life and she enjoyed family vacations spent on Cape Cod and especially spending time with her adoring grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Mary Frances Savolainen and her husband Arnold of Norton, Timothy E. McEndy and his wife Kathleen of Malvern, PA, Sue Ann Fisk and her husband Raymond of Norton and Paula Jean Hain of Norton. The dear sister of Priscilla Petit of Attleboro, Janet Savastano of Pawtucket, Margaret Megliola of Duxbury and the late Robert Walsh, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Erin Savolainen, Timothy Savolainen, Timothy McEndy, Matthew McEndy, Jillian Fisk and Calley Fisk, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday September 21st at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday September 20th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
