Etta I. (Caledonia) Moses 84 years old, of Brockton died Saturday September 17, 2011 surrounded by her family at Newton-Wellesley Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph E. Moses.
Etta was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy a daughter of the late Dominic and Rose (Vescio) Caledonia and arrived in Brockton with her parents at the age of three. A lifelong resident of Brockton, Etta was a 1945 graduate of Brockton High School and was an active member of their reunion committee. She was a member of the Italian Women’s Club and enjoyed winters in Pompono, Florida. Etta was devoted to her home and family and especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren and great grandson.
Etta was the mother of Sandra A. Walsh and her husband Joseph of No. Easton, Joseph E. Moses and his wife Marilyn of Brockton and Candice M. Raymond and her husband Kenneth of Middleboro. She was “Nona” to her grandchildren Katie, Christine, Mark and Leah and great grandson Jake. She was the sister of Terry Dandrata and Joan Janaro both of Brockton and the late Sam and Bruno Caledonia. Etta leaves several nieces and nephews and her devoted caregiver Theresa Hodge.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St.(Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home Thursday at 8 am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
