Cherished son of the late Daniel and Mary (Crowley) Carney. Devoted father of John G. Carney Jr. and his wife Karen, Daniel P. Carney and his wife Bessie, Joseph M. Carney and his wife Jennifer all of Winthrop, Stephen F. Carney of South Boston, Mary E. Carney of Winthrop, and Maureen A. Carney of Miami, FL. Adored grandfather of Andrew, Danielle, and Holly Carney, Ryan and Libby Carney, Emma Carney, and Sapphire and Martin Emmanuel. Dear sister of the late Jane Fitzgerald, Margaret Hynes, Katherine Lombard, and Winifred Porter. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on Weds at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tues. only 4-8pm. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII.
