Obituary

Salvatore (Sy) of Sherborn peacefully reunited with his loving wife of 56 years Mary F. Butler LaMacchia on September 15, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Mary Ann Morse Nursing home after a short illness. Born in Watertown, MA on March 18, 1923 to the late Carmelo and Agatha (Sacco) LaMacchia. Mr. LaMacchia graduated Newton Trade School and Wentworth Institute and was a Tool and Die Maker. He owned and ran Master Machine Co. in Sherborn and was proud to have done work for many companies including Raytheon and Sealtest Ice Cream. He was often called on to machine parts for many who needed a little tool or part; he was known as the go to person for repairs and skate sharpening. Sy also drove school buses for Klein Bus Co. and later Michael J. Connolly & Sons, Inc. for many years. Mr. LaMacchia proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII as a Staff Sgt. and often reminisced about his days in Okinawa and Hawaii. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1274, Natick; He is survived by his devoted family Mary and Robert Pimentel, Ashland, Jean and Robert Griffin, Merrimack, NH, Joanne and Lawrence McCarter, Millis and Donna and Barry Kachadorian, Framingham. 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. His loving brother, John C. LaMacchia and wife Lois, Waltham; Nora Venti, E. Hartford, CT; Anna Harrington, Waltham and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Anthony, Joseph, Carmelo, Francis, and sisters Dominica, Carmilla, and Mary; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday September 20 at 8:45 A.M. from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St Theresa Church Sherborn. Visiting hours are Monday from 3:00 to 7:30 P.M. Interment Glenwood Cemetery South Natick. Donations to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220, or charity of one’s choice.
