Mary Anne Bruce, 84, while visiting her daughter Patty, in Taunton, MA, was suddenly stricken and died at Morton Hospital in Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Wife of the late Walter Bruce, formerly of Oakland Street in New Bedford, MA. She lived with her daughter Joanne in Scituate, RI for the past twenty years. Born in Argentia, NFLD, Canada, daughter of the late Anthony and Johanna Smith, she immigrated to New Bedford at the age of fourteen. She was the mother of Wayne Bruce and his wife Kathy of Dartmouth, Joanne Robinson and her husband Matt of Scituate, RI and Patty Anderson and her husband David of Taunton. She was the sister of Betty Flanagan and her husband Jim, Adrian Smith and his wife Sylvia and the late John, Michael, Pius, Russell and Richard Smith, Margaret Shea and Theresa Marshall. Grandmother of Mike, Bridget, Chris, Tommy, Kerry, Nora, Charlotte, Danny, Peter and Coleen Bruce all of Dartmouth, Melanie and Margaret Anderson of Taunton. Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Name Church, 121 Mt Pleasant Street in New Bedford on Wednesday, September 21 at 11 AM. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers.
