Dolores “Dee” S. Morris – 79, Westport MA, Sept 13, 2011 after a long illness.
Born in Bethlehem, PA, Nov 29 1931. Raised by her Aunt Lillian Sullivan, settling in Stroudsburg, PA. She attended Drew University in NJ, then Smith College, graduating with a Masters in Social Work. She married Thomas A. Morris Jr, MD a widower with two young children, on Sept, 4 1955 in Shawnee on the Deleware, PA. They settled in Newton, MA and had three more daughters. In the early 70’s she worked in the Guidance Dept. of the local junior high school. After raising their family in Newton they moved from suburbia to the farm country of Westport, MA. There she got involved with the Westport River Watershed Alliance. The health of the river and the surrounding natural environment became close to her heart. She was an avid bird watcher, gardener, hostess and cook.
A beloved mother survived by her five children; Thomas, A. Morris, III, MD and wife Andrea, Mary Schwartz and husband Tom; Elizabeth Johnson and husband Clyde; Susan Morris; and Sara Thompson and husband Richard. Beloved grandmother to: Robert Morris; Carolyn, Trevor and Kevin Schwartz; Selena and Isaiah Johnson; Isaac and Eric Lee Branch; and Conor, Natalie, Kaytlin and Elizabeth Thompson. Also, survived by her dear friends, confidants and caretakers, Ryan and Rosa Amado.
Pre-deceased by her beloved Aunt Lil and her husband Thomas Bray; her husband, Thomas A Morris, Jr MD and dogs Mishy and Blue.
Memorial Service held at family home on Sun, Sept 18 at 11:00 am.
