FRAMINGHAM: Joyce A. Santagate, 62, of Framingham died peacefully on September 14, 2011 surrounded by love, family and friends after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Joyce was born in Boston and was the daughter of the late Anthony D. Santagate and Margaret A. (Main) Santagate. She was a life-long resident of Framingham and grew up in a loving, family-centered home. She was a graduate of Framingham North High School, University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the Newton Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing.
Joyce was very committed to her career spending years in the nursing field where she deeply cared for her patients. Joyce was an avid traveler and committed to countless relief efforts, charities and wildlife foundations. Though she valued her career and travel adventures, Joyce’s deepest passion and source of joy were her family and friends.
Joyce leaves behind an adoring family. She was the devoted niece of Herbert L. “Herb” Hilton of Framingham and Robert B. Main of Waltham. Beloved cousin of Mark L. Hilton and his wife Susan of Lyndonville, VT; Judith A. Dagg of Bellingham; Michael J. Hilton and his wife Lisa of Mendon; Sandy J. Kivlehan and her husband James of Framingham and Marilyn J. Main of Framingham. She was “Auntie” to 9 cherished nieces and nephews – Margaret Hilton, Patrick Hilton, Jessica Dagg, Christopher Dagg, Elizabeth Hilton, Jon Hilton, Sam Hilton, Carolyn Kivlehan, and Cameron Kivlehan. Niece of the late Carolyn Ann (Main) Hilton and William and Elizabeth Main She is also survived by her special friends Arlene Barden of Framingham and Sherry Reynolds of Hull.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm ONLY at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland. Her funeral service will follow at 5:30 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be private for her family.
In lieu of flowers, Joyce’s life will be celebrated and remembered through a scholarship established in her name.
