Yuma S. Deackoff, age 87
Retired Honeywell Director of Custom & Special Products
TEWKSBURY: Yuma S. (Stahmer) Deackoff, age 87, a recent resident of Tewksbury, formerly of Watertown, Belmont and Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the Hunt Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Danvers.
Born in Chicago, IL on January 27, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Waldemare and Emma (Schroeder) Stahmer.
Yuma was raised in the South Side of Chicago and attended Chicago Public Schools.
She later attended the University of Michigan, where she received her B.S. Degree in Chemistry.
Prior to her retirement , she was employed as Director of Custom & Special Products for the Honeywell Corporation in Billerica, where she worked 12 years. Mrs. Deackoff previously worked for the Digital Corporation.
Yuma resided in Watertown, Belmont and Winchester until moving to Tewksbury.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Belmont.
She enjoyed traveling to Europe and was an avid Grand Master bridge player.
She is survived by three children, John P. Deackoff of Houston, TX, Nancy W. Deackoff of South Windsor, CT and Stephen D. Deackoff and his wife Gail(Mackey) of Tewksbury; two grandchildren, Harrison S. and Olivia G. Deackoff both of Tewksbury; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Yuma was the mother of the late James M. Deackoff and sister of the late Walda Reeder.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday, Sept. 19 , from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Rd., Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Tewksbury Food Pantry, 999 Whipple Road, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
