Obituary

Carmelina “Millie” (Ciarcia) Listro, a long time Somerville resident, died Saturday at the Woburn Nursing Center. She was 85.

Mrs. Listro was born in Sicily, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and the late Giuseppina (LaRosa) Ciarcia. At 19 years old Millie came to America and settled in the North End of Boston. After moving to Somerville, she became very active at Saint Ann Parish. She was the past president of Our Lady of Tears Society and was also a Eucharistic minister. Millie made considerable efforts to raise money for the Italian missions through the Xaverian Missionary Society.

Carmelina was the beloved wife of the late R. Joseph Listro who died in 1982. She is also predeceased by a son Anthony. She leaves her daughter Constance Listro of Somerville, a son Ronald Listro and his wife Mary of Medford. Millie was a loving grandmother to Christina, Joseph and Mary Cara Melina. She also leaves her dear sister Maria Ciarcia of Somerville. She is predeceased by her brother Salvatore Ciarcia and a sister Francesca Caraco.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday at 11 AM in St. Ann Church, Somerville.Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
