He was born on July 22, 1939, in the coastal town of Gaeta, Italy. At an early age, during World War 2, his family and village faced a terrifying German round-up. To escape the danger, Angelo, alongside his mother, grandmother, and brother, ran on foot and walked all the way from Gaeta to Genoa, Italy, demonstrating a profound resilience that would characterize the rest of his life. At just 17 years old, he made the courageous journey to the United States. As a teenager in a new country, Angelo faced the daunting challenge of learning English while working demanding hours at a local shoe factory. Driven by a deep belief in the promise of his new home, he used his factory wages to put himself through college. His determination paid off when he earned his bachelor s degree in electrical engineering from Boston University, followed by a master s degree in engineering management from Northeastern University. Though naturally very shy, Angelo made a bold decision as a young man that would change his life forever. Seeking to step outside his comfort zone, he signed up for ballroom dance lessons. It was there, in 1964, that he met a beautiful ballroom dance teacher named Beverly Michaels (MacLeod). Beverly taught him how to dance, and in doing so, captured his heart. The two fell deeply in love, sparking a beautiful partnership that would span the next 59 years of dancing through life together. They settled in Winchester, Massachusetts, where they built a vibrant home and raised their six children. Angelo s career was as diverse as it was accomplished. He spent many successful years working as an electrical engineer for Polaroid. Never losing his profound passion for reading, he also turned his love for books into a reality by owning and operating two local bookstores. Later in life, Angelo transitioned into education, spending ten years sharing his practical knowledge and inspiring students as a teacher at The Greater Lawrence Technical High School. Beyond his professional achievements, Angelo was deeply rooted in his community and family. A lifelong lover of soccer, he spent countless years on the field as a dedicated youth coach, passing on his passion for the sport to his children and their peers. Angelo possessed a unique blend of an analytical mind and a wonderfully vivid imagination. He was a storyteller, constantly making up whimsical tales to entertain his children when they were young, and later, his grandchildren. Generation after generation grew up on his imaginative stories of Joco the circus bear, Brunhilda the witch, and Maurice the seagull whom Angelo playfully claimed was his own personal friend. His favorite place to share these stories was his beloved vacation home in Harwich Port on Cape Cod. Angelo cherished the numerous summers spent there playing with his children and grandchildren. He was a fixture on the Cape beaches, where he would famously swim from jetty to jetty, take long walks along the shore from Allen Harbor to Wychmere Harbor, and stroll downtown with his family to get coffee or ice cream. At both his home in Winchester and on the Cape, Angelo was an avid vegetable gardener who took great pride in growing his plants from seed. He was also a  legendary family cook, celebrated by his children as the absolute best flipper of pancakes and maker of tall ship rice. His guidance in the kitchen and at home carried a magic all its own. He famously taught his children that "one-to-three makes good tea," a precise method that made the perfect cup each time a tradition they now proudly practice and pass down to their own children. He was also a source of physical and emotional comfort; whenever a child had a cut or bruise, Angelo would place a healing hand over the hurt and gently chant, "pain, pain go away," a soothing ritual that his children now use to comfort his grandchildren. Following his second retirement, Angelo found his ultimate joy in family life, dedicating his time to helping care for his cherished grandchildren. Angelo will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a true self-made man whose legacy of hard work, lifelong learning, and love will endure for generations. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly (MacLeod) Bittarelli; his sons, Alarico Bittarelli of Medford, and Jason Bittarelli and his wife Rachel of Lexington; and his daughters, Catherine Wills (Bittarelli) and her husband Richard of Andover, Elizabeth Reiser (Bittarelli) and her husband Clint of Andover, and Carolina Bittarelli of Tewksbury and daughter-in-law, Eleni. Cox, Jr. and Mavis G. (Twomey) Cox of Andover, Massachusetts. Susan was a proud graduate of the Andover Public School system and of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she met the love of her life and best friend, Gordon. Susan was a devoted Wife, Mother, Mimi and Teacher. At her core, Susan embodied motherhood in its truest form - nurturing, loving, protective and endlessly giving. She loved spending time with her 3 daughters and 5 grandchildren and watching them grow into amazing individuals. Nothing brought Susan more joy than cheering on her daughters and grandchildren in their endeavors; she was their biggest fan and proudest supporter and will remain so in their hearts. She dedicated more than 20 years to teaching, most recently as a respected and loved teacher at South Elementary School in Andover. She thrived in the presence of her students and found joy in watching them grow, many of whom stayed connected with her long after they left her classroom. Susan's happy place was the beach. She grew up spending summers at Hampton Beach with her parents and siblings, a tradition she later enjoyed with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and friends. She was a wonderful host and an exceptional cook who enjoyed filling her home with family and friends. Susan also loved to garden and would often be found tending to her blue hydrangeas and bountiful vegetable patch. She would lead the dancing when the Beach Boys came on and would never turn down a scoop of delicious ice cream. Susan was an eternal optimist with a beautiful smile who created her own sunshine. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in all who knew her. Whirty, passed away at Brightview Senior Living of North Andover, on September 20, 2026. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Maryanne was the daughter of the late Ignatius and Katherine (Ciuba) Drozd. Maryanne was a precocious and talented polymath; her interests and vocations were many and varied. After her children were born, she earned her bachelor s degree in English literature at Kean University, and then completed her M.A. and Ph.D. at New York University. The focus of her advanced studies was the English romantic poets, and she wrote her Ph.D. dissertation on the poetry of Lord Byron. In the course of her research, she was privileged to work with original Byron manuscripts housed at the Frick Library in New York City and Sorbonne University in Paris. She went on to teach at City University of New York, New York University and Monmouth University. Maryanne also worked at various positions in the fields of stock brokerage, social security claims analysis and administration, pharmaceutical new drug clinical trials and introductions, and gemology. She and her husband Bob loved to travel and enjoyed trips throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and the Holy Land. She looked forward to annual hiking trips with a women s group, climbing mountains in U.S. national parks and abroad, and as a pilgrim on the Camino de Santiago. A voracious reader, Maryanne also was an accomplished writer and poet who kept extensive journals. She could sew and knit her own clothing, planted and maintained beautiful gardens, including one devoted to roses, created Tiffany look-alike stained glass lamps, and was a reasonably good poker player. She loved classical music and opera and had subscription tickets to the Met in New York City for many years. She also enjoyed walking the boardwalk at her house at the Jersey shore, and running, and completed the New York City Marathon several times. Of all these interests, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, Rob and Hanna. Maryanne is survived by her loving son, Robert F. She deeply valued her family and friendships and enjoyed spending time with the many people who were important to her. She also enjoyed attending the Stay Well Adult Day Care in Salem, where she formed meaningful friendships and was part of a community she greatly enjoyed. She will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and devotion to those she loved, and she will be dearly missed. He was 66 years old. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on December 23, 1959, Robert Jr. was the beloved son of the late Robert Bruce Innes and Barbara Ann (Emmons) Innes. During his early years Robert and his family lived in Salem, NH. In 1965, the family moved to Andover MA to a home our father built. Robert was raised in the town of Andover. As a young boy, he spent time on the YMCA swim team and took piano lessons for many years. In 7th grade he was a member of the square dance club and had his first job working at Bishops restaurant in Lawrence. Robert was a strong student in school and was continually on the High Honor Roll each year through the 9th grade. Robert had many health challenges over the years and yet continually persevered. He was very proud to graduate from Andover High School in 1979. Robert loved music and learned to play the piano and guitar at an early age. He loved attending music concerts in the Boston area in the 80 s, 90 s and later years with his twin brother Kevin and younger brother Duane. Robert also enjoyed attending sporting events including Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox games. He really enjoyed meeting the stars at sports signing events and getting pictures and autographs. In the summertime, Robert enjoyed road trips up the Atlantic coast and canoeing and swimming in state parks in New Hampshire with his family. After our dad s retirement in 1996, Robert enjoyed many family drives throughout New England and across the country. He visited many places in between including Duane s family in Washington State and was his best man (with Kevin) at Duane s wedding. Robert had a friendly attitude towards everyone he met. He always loved his family very much. He enjoyed eating out at many eateries including Hilltop Steak House, China Blossom, Riley s &amp; Kelly s Roast Beef, Newick s Seafood, Kimball s Ice Cream Store and Grassfield s in Andover. Over the years, he loved listening to all his music CD s and DVD s and singing along. He played all his favorite songs on his electronic piano. Robert loved celebrating the Christmas holiday season including his birthday in December every year. He would decorate his room and the family home to celebrate the season. In 2024, we lost our father to Parkinson s disease. Earlier this year we lost our mother at 90 years old. Although that was a difficult time for all of us, Robert took it especially hard. Robert, our dear brother, was a very loving, caring and devoted brother and uncle. He will be dearly missed. Robert, went to be with God on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Innes, and father, Robert Bruce Innes. Robert is survived by his twin brother Kevin, brother Duane, sister-in-law Carmen, his niece Kristin (Bonnie), his nephew James (Arielle), his great-niece Aspen and his great-nephew Logan. We would like to thank all the staff at Andover Manor for their love, care, and support for our dear brother over the past year.
