(O Connor) McMenemy, 88, of Paxton, died on Wednesday, June 17th peacefully surrounded by her family. Her husband of 60 years, Richard D. McMenemy died in 2023. She leaves three daughters Joan E. McMenemy and Susan M. McMenemy both of Westborough, Ann B. McMenemy of Ipswich; a son, James R. McMenemy (Lorraine) of Bristol, CT; four grandchildren, Michael, Jillian, Lucas and Abigail; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Deborah was predeceased by her four brothers, twin brother, Dennis E., Roderick J., William P. and John F. O Connor. She was born in Worcester, daughter of William P. and Clara L. ( Blake) O Connor. Deborah graduated from Saint Peter s Central Catholic High School in Worcester. She worked at Thom McAn in Worcester for several years before becoming a Mom. She then remained at home with her children until they reached high school age at which time she re-entered the workforce. She worked in accounts payable at The Lutheran Home and St. Francis Home (Worcester) for several years, retiring to care for her grandchildren. Deborah was a member of St. Columba Parish, Paxton for 51 yrs where she taught CCD. Deborah loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her funeral is Monday, June 22nd from O CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with her funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Columba Church, 10 Richards Avenue, Paxton. McMenemy &lt;br/&gt;Jun 17, 2026</title> </item> <item> <description>Valentina Buci, 87, of Worcester died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 7th. Her husband of 45 years, Pandi Buci, died in 2004. Hers was a remarkable life of defiant love and quiet strength that carried her through some of the hardest years of the last century. Born in Borisoglebsk, Russia, she was a young university student training to be a teacher when she met Pandi, an Albanian sent to Russia for pilot training. When he returned home, she finished her degree, then in 1960 traveled alone across borders to join him, settling in Vlorë and later Korçë. Their years together were tested by a brutal regime that treated her harshly as a foreigner, yet she never wavered in her devotion to Pandi and their daughters. All the while she taught mathematics, Russian, and technical drawing, and quietly shielded her students at real risk to herself. To this day they still call her "Mësuese Vali." Cut off from her homeland for thirty years by the Iron Curtain, she was later the subject of books and documentaries. In 2006 she immigrated to the United States to live with her daughter Diana. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren she was simply "Nëna Vali," the laughter in the room and the steady ear they relied on. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of St. Mary's Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church and treasured her time with the Daughters of St. Mary's and her friends at Illyrian Gardens. She loved her cats, Ginger and Puci, and her dog, Buddy, and took joy in her garden. She never let go of the things she loved as a girl: ice skating, Russian classic songs like "Kalinka," her flowers, and traveling the world from Russia, Albania, Bulgaria, USA, Canada, Ukraine, Mexico, Dominican Republic and more. Above all, she will be remembered for her warm heart, her gentle spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her, a legacy that will bloom in the lives she touched. He leaves his wife of 35 years, Ellen (Garrahie) Pawlik; his daughter, Susanna Del Carratore and her husband, William of Southborough; two sisters, Irena Pawlik of Marlborough and Anna Winsett of Bedford, NH; granddaughter, Alessia; a niece Emily Dutton; great nephew, Owen Dutton and great niece, Penelope Dutton. He was predeceased by a nephew, Oliver Winsett. He was born in England the son of Jozef and Helena (Gradek) Pawlik, and immigrated to the United States in 1958. He enjoyed a distinguished career in finance and technology, working for Digital Equipment Corporation before joining Fidelity Investments. For more than 30 years, he served as Vice President of Quantitative Analysis at Fidelity, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues through his intelligence, leadership, and commitment to excellence. He retired in 2017 after a remarkable professional career. A faithful member of St. Peter's Church, Mark found strength and community in his faith throughout his life. Outside of work, Mark had many passions that brought him joy. He was an accomplished woodworker and stained-glass artisan, taking great pride in creating beautiful pieces with his hands. He also enjoyed brewing his own beer, a hobby he shared with family and friends. Mark treasured evenings spent dining out with friends, enjoying good food, conversation, and laughter. Among his favorite places was Scarborough, Maine, where he looked forward to spending time and creating cherished memories. Mark was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his ability to make others smile. He loved to joke around and was always ready with a witty remark, a funny story, or playful banter. His laughter was contagious, and he brought joy to countless gatherings with family and friends. Friendship was one of the great blessings of Mark's life. He maintained a close-knit circle of friends, many of whom were lifelong companions. These friendships were deeply important to him, and he loved his friends like family. Whether sharing a meal, enjoying a conversation, or simply spending time together, Mark treasured the bonds he built over the years and the memories they created together. Above all, Mark will be remembered for his warm spirit, sharp mind, generous heart, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His presence enriched the lives of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill Daley, 76, of Boylston died peacefully in his sleep Friday, June 5th at home. He is survived by his loving family, Barbara A. (Auger) Daley; his daughter, Caitlin Davidson and her husband, Nicholas of Worcester; his son, Brian Daley and his wife, Lauren of West Boylston; his sister, Frances Cutty of Webster; three grandchildren, William, Colin and Lila; his beloved cat, Phil; his grandpups Guthrie and Josie, as well as several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary and Judy; and his brother, Kevin. Born in Worcester, the son of Francis and Alice (Houghton) Daley, Bill graduated from South High School in 1967. After high school, he served in the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Germany for four years. He dedicated more than 35 years of his professional career to WSBK/WBZ Channel Four, where he worked as an audio technician. In 1997, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement- for his work on the Boston Bruins Hockey broadcast, an accomplishment of which he was most proud. While Bill did not belong to one specific church, his steadfast faith always remained an important part of his life. He could often be found attending the many Mass services at churches throughout Worcester County, finding comfort in prayer and reflection. Bill was also an avid golfer, and he spent his favorite moments on the golf course with his friends. He enjoyed taking literature courses, visiting historical museums, poetry, writing, movies and television, reading, and photography. Music was another of Bill s greatest passions; he played guitar and was a lifelong fan of Bob Dylan. Above all else, Bill treasured his friends and family. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his friends, children and grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations. He was known for staying connected with those he cared about, regularly checking in on friends and family because he believed that keeping in touch was one of life s most important responsibilities. His love, guidance, and unwavering presence will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Bill will be most remembered for his ability to tell a good story, his sharp wit and humor, his loyalty to family and friends, his love of learning and music, and the genuine interest he took in the lives of others. His memory will continue to inspire all who loved him.
