A Life of Quiet Love and Devotion to Family Jean Gregoire Amazan Mathieu, affectionately known as  Amazan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts, at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Noemie Georges. Born on November 28, 1932, in Aux Cayes, Haiti, Amazan was the only son of the late Daricher Mathieu and Anese Flerimont. He was raised in Fron Frède, Mapou Simon, in the Aux Cayes region of Haiti, where he spent much of his life working as a farmer and was a proud landowner. Amazan had three siblings: Elisier, Amona, and Palmita. In May 2003, Amazan immigrated to the United States, beginning a new chapter of his life surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Although he made his home in America, his heart remained closely connected to Haiti and the family he left behind. He regularly purchased calling cards to speak with loved ones back home, always eager to hear how everyone was doing. He also enjoyed listening to the radio, particularly the news from Haiti, which helped him remain connected to his homeland. Amazan was a quiet, kind, and gentle man who found happiness in life s simple pleasures. He enjoyed reading his Bible, humming familiar church songs, watching soccer on Telemundo, listening to the radio, and enjoying a good meal. He cherished his daily walks, a routine he continued well into his late eighties. Above all, Amazan enjoyed being surrounded by family. He took pleasure in watching his children and grandchildren grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply being present in their lives. Whether gathered for birthdays, graduations, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or other family occasions, he appreciated the togetherness these moments brought. He did not need to be the center of attention; being among those he loved was enough. In his later years, Amazan was lovingly cared for by his eldest child, Louise Mathieu, who had the honor of supporting him as he aged. During these years, he witnessed his grandchildren grow into adulthood and shared countless family memories. He maintained a particularly special bond with his grandson Andrew, who was only five years old when Amazan came to live with the family. Despite not sharing the same primary language, their relationship demonstrated how love and connection can transcend words. As the father of 20 children and a grandfather and great-grandfather with more than 65 descendants across generations, Amazan leaves behind an extraordinary family legacy. His life touched generations of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives, and friends, both in the United States and Haiti. Amazan may have been a man of few words, but his presence, quiet strength, gentle nature, and devotion to family spoke volumes. His memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the family gatherings celebrated, and the generations who carry his legacy forward. An enthusiastic reader with an endless appetite for books, he was always eager to learn and discover something new. His willingness to explore, learn, and step beyond his comfort zone reflected his enduring curiosity about life. William proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1965. Following his military service, he pursued a career as a professional race-car driver and earned his living as a mechanic. A talented and resourceful man, he had a remarkable ability to repair just about anything. He later became a truck driver for Shaw's Supermarket and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local Union 653. He was known for his blunt opinions, dry humor, stubbornness, and never shy about saying what he thought. But, beneath it all he had a generous heart. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorna J (Urbanowicz) Corbett. Together, they shared more than 55 years of life in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, building a lifetime of memories. He leaves behind his three children: Anmarie (Corbett) Sebastyn and her husband, Joseph W. Sebastyn, of Whitman, Massachusetts; Michelle (Corbett) Roberts and her husband, Kenneth J. February 28, 1935 - September 28, 2026. Antoine  Ti Karo Pierre (91) was born on February 28, 1935 in Trou-du-Nord, Haiti, to the late Erzulia Eximé and Lima Pierre. He was the fifth out of seven children. On September 28, 2026, at 5:50 a.m., God called Antoine home, releasing him from pain and suffering and welcoming him into eternal rest. He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved brothers and sisters, Madame Aristomène, Sonia, Pospère, and Albénis  Tchoube. Throughout his adulthood, Antoine devoted himself to farming and cultivating the land. As a hardworking and humble man, he eventually found love with his beautiful wife, Rosena Etienne. Together, they married and embarked on a lifelong journey filled with love, family, and perseverance. Antoine worked tirelessly to provide for and support his family, friends, and community, often giving even when he has little to give. His caring, generous, and selfless nature earned him the affectionate name  Papa pèp or the  People s father . He devoted his life to making those around him feel loved, seen, and safe. His generosity extended far beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of countless people who will remember him for his kindness and compassion. In 2006, Antoine immigrated to the United States to join his son, Adius Pierre, and to finally meet and embrace his grandchildren in America. He quickly established roots in his new home, first becoming a member of Brockton Haitian Church then later joining the Haitian Baptist Church of the Rock. During his years in the United States, Antoine continued to pour his love, wisdom, and generosity into his family and grandchildren. He formed meaningful community connections and continued traveling between Haiti and the United States, carrying with him the love and traditions of his homeland. Antoine is survived by his sisters, Alidia Pierre (wife of the late Carius Pierre) and Elvira Pierre (wife of the late Caribert Pierre), who continue to reside in Haiti. He was blessed to be the father of seven sons: the late Asphène Pierre, Adius, David, Frandy, Wesley, Oberson, and Doudlet. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Antoinise, Tyra, Windel, Wilpghène, Jempson, Aslande, Christopher, Jodany, Andrick, Sophia, Hans, and Marc; his great-grandchildren: Veyden and Tyler; and his extended family: Josette, Lovelie, Rosette, Mireille, Garven, Nikkita, Montes, Johashy, Nya, Nadège, Cassandra, and Ivrose. Antoine s life was a testament to love, generosity, hard work, and devotion to family. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he gave and the memories he created will continue to live on through the generations.
