A life well lived. Paula was born on May 8, 1933, to Leo and Rose (Kaplan) Brotman of Everett. Rose passed away 6 months after Paula was born. Paula was blessed to have been raised by her second mother, Edith (Tunkel) Brotman, who was the only mother she ever knew. Together, Leo and Edith provided a warm and supportive household for Paula and her loving brother, Alan, who predeceased her. Paula adored her brother, Alan, and they remained very close throughout their lives. Alan's wife Kathy was like a sister to Paula. Paula graduated from Everett High School in 1951 and married her husband, Sam, in 1953. Paula and Sam were married for 55+ years before Sam s passing in 2009. Paula had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. Her smile lit up a room. In high school she made a name for herself as a comedienne in the drama program. This talent led to her developing a pantomime act, which she performed at bridal showers and other events, entertaining audiences by impersonating celebrities such as Danny Kaye, Buddy Hackett and Louis Armstrong. She also wrote and directed many comedy programs for her synagogue (Congregation Tifereth Israel in Everett), always to rave reviews. She lived life to the fullest and was happiest at her beloved cottage on the lake on Arlington Pond in Salem, NH. There she was always outside "puttering," whether it was building a rock wall, laying flagstone, or gardening. When not outside, she could either be found at her workbench in the cellar or cooking up a feast for upcoming visitors to "the lake." She was very creative and was known for her complex photo collages that she made for her children and grandchildren. Paula was an avid Boston sports fan, especially following the Red Sox and Patriots. She was an accomplished swimmer and diver, and was often complimented on her gracefulness in the water, well into her 80's. A kind-hearted soul, she always wanted to help anyone she felt was in need. She cared deeply about all people and loved animals as well. Above all, Paula loved her family and nothing was more important to her than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her great granddaughter. She was the devoted mother of Earl and Phyllis (Delorey) Spivack of Wakefield and Adele (Spivack) and David Garlick of Merrimack, NH. She was the loving grandmother of Shayna (and Patrick) Neuburg, Joshua Garlick (and Tessa Griffin), Rebecca Spivack, Kayla Garlick, Allison Spivack, and the late Leah Garlick. She also leaves her cherished great granddaughter, Hannah Neuburg, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He lived with Parkinson s Disease for the last several years of his life. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 73 years, Ann Sitomer, son Joseph Sitomer, daughter Marion Sitomer, daughter-in-law Anita Sitomer, and grandchildren Prerna Sitomer and Niharika Sitomer. He survived his son Steven Sitomer and sister Alice Ross. His funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Torf Funeral Chapel. Please see below for the link for live streaming of the service. All who knew Dan Sitomer would agree he was an extraordinary human being. He was kind to the core and stepped up whenever others were in need. He excelled at most anything he set his mind too. He was intellectually brilliant, musically gifted, and could charm anyone with his gentle sense of humor. Dan was born in Brooklyn to Harry and Mindel Sitomer. He studied violin from an early age. While recovering from scarlet fever as a teenager he spent many hours learning and playing chess with his grandfather. He became an enthusiastic and skilled player. After competing as a member of the Columbia University chess team, he maintained a lifelong passion for the game. He met Ann Sirota, the love of his life at his 18th birthday party. A year and a half later, he asked her out for their first date, and they were married December 20, 1953. They lived in Brooklyn, Queens, and eventually Long Island, where they raised Joe, Marion, and Steve. Their deep and long-lasting love was at the center of both of their lives. Dan received his bachelor s and master s degrees with distinction in mathematics from Columbia University. He then started a career as a systems analyst in the first wave of main frame business computing. He worked at Honeywell Corporation, Chase Manhattan Bank, and the New York State Housing Authority. Through much of his working life he also taught computers at the continuing education department of New York University. In addition, he shared his serious hobbies, chess and bridge teaching in various community settings. He was a natural communicator and teacher, and everyone who learned from him, no matter the subject, came away enriched. In addition to playing stringed instruments, Dan loved to sing. He performed in a variety of classical choral groups, including briefly touring internationally with the St Cecelia Chorus of New York. He also performed with the Gilbert &amp; Sullivan Workshop of Long Island for over a decade. Singing was such a part of his personality that he was liable to burst into song at the drop of a hat. Dan had many other interests. He wrote limericks and other poems for the people in his life, to both mark special occasions and express affection. He made regular submissions to the New York Magazine monthly poetry contest and was recognized on several occasions. He was also an avid crossword puzzler, and at one point was nationally ranked. Dan will be missed and fondly remembered by all. For those so inclined, the family would welcome a donation to the Michael J. Marilyn was also the adoring grandmother of 16 grandchildren and cherished great-grandmother of 13 great grandchildren. Together with her late husband, the family owned Feinberg's Variety Store in Fitchburg. They were known for their kind service, attention to detail, delicious deli platters, and kosher catering services. Prior to her retirement, Marilyn served as a loan officer for Fitchburg Savings Bank. A gracious host who loved bringing people together, she found her greatest joy in cooking and entertaining for those she loved.
