Obituary

Ida May Zwernemann Riske passed away on Saturday, September l0, 2011, in League City, Texas: She was born March 19, 1921 in Carmine, Texas to Richard Zwernemann and Alma Schultz Zwernemann. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter along with brothers and sister in law, Melvin and Alida Zwernemann and Richard Zwernemann Jr. She married her high school sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Louis Riske, October 1, 1939. Louis Riske preceded her in death June 26, 1992. She is survived by their six children; Carol Jurk and husband, William, of Warda, Robert Riske and wife, Dolores of Georgetown, Kay Brown and husband, Frank of Stafford, Glenn Riske and wife, Sara, of Texas City, Linda Frank and husband, Kenny of Columbus, and Cheryl Evans of Seabrook.

Ida May is also survived by her 14 grandchildren; Michelle and Michael Dunk of LaGrange, Texas, Robert Allan and Cheryl Jurk of Manheim, Texas, Russell and Laurie Jurk of Ledbetter, Texas, Deborah and Bobby Standifier of Taylor, Texas, Sharon and Matt Christensen Of West Haven, Utah, Rebecca and Matt Mazoch of College Station, Texas, Melody and Bryan Hardegree of Albany, Georgia, Heather and James Cox of Justin, Texas, Jason and Lisa Brown of Itasca, Texas, Megan Brown of Little Elm, Texas, Glenn Riske Jr. and Kimberly of Santa Fe, Texas, Melanie Frank of Columbus, Texas, Charles Evans IV of Houston,Texas and Michael Evans of Seabrook, Texas.

Mrs. Riske is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, One sister-in-law, Joyleen Zwernermann, and many nieces and nephews.

Ida May was a long time resident of Giddings,Texas Pasadena,Texas Winston Salem North Carolina,and La Grange, Texas, She was a charter member and former president of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League having been a member for over fifty years. She was also a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in La Grange, Texas, Helping Hands, the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, and the Warda EEC Club.

Visitation will be at on Monday, September 12 at the Fayette Memorial Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM a prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 13 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church at 10:00 AM.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday afternoon at the Carmine City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or the Mt Calvary Men’s Club Broadcast.
