Methuen, Ma. – Thomas D. Maricic, 62, died Tuesday June 7, 2011 with his loving family at his side at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. He fought a most courageous battle with cancer.
Tom was born in Inglewood, New Jersey on July 8, 1948 the son of Yugoslavian parents; Kruno and his wife Dorothy (Strika) Maricic. He graduated from St. Josephs grammar and high school as well as Farleigh Dickinson College all of New Jersey.
Tom was a Senior Engineer with Lucent Technology where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 2001.
Tom was a loving husband and proud father and grandfather, sharing with all of them his unbridled joy of learning.
Tom enjoyed first and foremost being at the helm of his sailboat sailing in the waters of Marblehead.
He also enjoyed cross country skiing in North Conway and spending time outdoors Kyacking, snow shoeing and biking with his devoted wife Marion.
Tom leaves Marion his wife of 20 years; his son Matthew and his wife Carrie of Mission Viejo, California, his daughter Laura and her husband Ray Warren and grandchildren Eva and Emma of Chelmsford, Ma., two brothers Michael Maricic and his wife Alison of Tuscon, Arizona, and Steve Maricic and his wife Bernadette and nieces Katie and Elizabeth of Springlake Heights, New Jersey.
He leaves two cousins Suzie and Nina Strika and Nina’s children Sasha and J. Stewart.
The family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Speiler, Dr. Sands, Dr. Rao, and the late Dr. Santosh Shetty and all the doctors and nurses at Holy Family Hospital.
Friends will be warmly received on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen with burial to follow in Star of the Sea Cemetery in Marblehead.
