Salem, NH Police Detective James J. Fox, III, 42, of Salem, NH, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief battle with cancer.
Jimmy was born in Port Chester, NY, grew up and was educated in Long Island, NY. He was a resident of Salem for the past 4 years.
Detective Fox was a member of the Salem Police Department for the past 6 years. He previously served as a member of the Rochester, NH Police Department. He was a member of the Salem Police Benevolent Association, New Hampshire Police Association and the New England Police Benevolent Association. He was a two time recipient of New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council’s “Looking Beyond the Traffic Ticket” DWI Hunter Award. He received several awards during his tenure with Salem Police Department, which include Certificates of Commendations, a Unit Citation and he was a three time recipient of the Department’s Meritorious Service Award. He was named Detective of the Year for his work in 2010 and will be honored at this year’s SPD Awards Banquet. He was an active volunteer in the community. He participated in the Relay for Life, Salem Police Department’s Open House, National Night Out and Salem Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy. He was also a volunteer coach for Salem Youth Baseball, the Salem Wolves Indoor Football Team and the Salem Rams. Most of all, Jimmy loved his wife and four sons and enjoyed spending time with them.
He was predeceased by his mother, Annette (Grossi) Scipione.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Roy) Fox of Salem.

Calling hours will be Monday, March 21st from 4-8 PM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH.
Funeral services will be celebrated Tuesday, March 22nd at 10:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
