TEWKSBURY - Virginia M. (Keane) Hurley, age 74, died Thursday afternoon, February 17, at Saints Medical Center in Lowell following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Joseph M. Hurley, with whom she had celebrated a 53rd wedding anniversary this past January 18th.
She was born in Somerville, May 14, 1936, the daughter of the late Timothy F. and Katherine (Davenport) Keane. She was raised in Somerville and graduated from Matignon High School with the class of 1954. She had resided in Tewksbury since 1958, where she was a devoted communicant of St. William's Church.
In her own words she often said, " I just want to be remembered as a good wife, loving mother, and devoted grandmother."
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Joseph Auchterlonie of Raymond, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph M. Hurley Jr., and Susan (Carrick) Hurley of Tyngsboro; five grandchildren, Kerry Auchterlonie of Raymond, NH, Maxwell, Ethan, Aislin and Abigail Hurley all of Tyngsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Timothy F. Keane Jr. and Elizabeth Keane of CT; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Feb. 22, in St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery.
