Richard M. “Rich” Simoes, a longtime resident of Natick, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on February 15, 2011. He was 57 years old.
Born in Malden, the son of Anna (Barnes) Simoes of Saugus and the late Manuel Simoes, Rich was raised and educated in Saugus where he graduated from Saugus High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Northeastern University. He was employed as an engineer for Raytheon prior to his retirement due to illness on February 1, 2011. Rich was a dedicated and devoted father and grandfather. He was an avid model train enthusiast who also enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, photography, boardgames, and computers.
In addition to his mother, Rich is survived by his beloved daughters, Sarah and Julie Simoes of Natick and his cherished grandson Kayden Simoes. He was the brother of Sandra Sylva and her husband Gilbert of Malden and John Simoes of Groveland; uncle of Daniel, David, Christina, and Johnny; nephew of Raymond Barnes of Rockland, ME and is also survived by numerous other loving family members.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend Rich’s funeral service in the Chapel of the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Dell Park Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 2-5 PM.
