Joseph T. "Junior" Gavigan, Jr of Orleans, formerly of Canton passed away unexpectedly February 5th. Born and raised in Canton, he attended Canton Schools and graduated from Canton High School. He was the owner and Operator of Gavigan Equipment in Middleboro since he was 22 years old. He was a longtime member of the Canton Town Club and has lived in Orleans for the last 35 years. Proud father of 8: Ginny Friedman & her husband Jeff of VT, Nancy Walsh & her husband Mark of Raynham, Jay Gavigan & his wife Karen of Berkley, Sarah Leahy & her husband Rob of Canton, Tracy Gavigan & his wife Debbie of N. Easton, Dr. Michael Gavigan & his wife Lisa of Middleboro, Eva Jenkins & her husband George of Raynham & John Gavigan & his wife Debbie of Canton. He was the loving companion of 14 years of Dottie Root of Orleans & her children Diedre Root of Orleans, Daniel Root of Brewster, Donna Vermen of Brewster, Diana Dion & her husband David & Debra Chase all of Houston, TX & the late David Root . Brother of Priscilla Gibney & her husband Richard of Canton. Former husband of the late Jean Parker. Also survived by 21 grandchildren & 17 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends invited to attend visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Saturday from 2-6 pm. Funeral service and burial private.
