Mr. Leo Paul Martineau
Obituary February 6th, 2011

Methuen: Mr. Leo Paul Martineau, 83, died Thursday morning at his home. Born in Central Falls RI, Mr. Martineau had been an area resident most of his life. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Martineau was the owner of Martineau Towing in Methuen which was started by his father in 1928 and is in it's 4th generation and Metropolitan Auto Body in Lawrence that he purchased in 1971. He had been an Methuen Auxiliary Policeman for over 30 years and worked his way up to Chief. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish and attended St. Theresa Church where he was also in the Holy Name Society. Mr. Martineau was a member of the Statewide Towing Association, the Towing and Recovery Association of America, and the Massachusetts Chief of Police Association. He also was a member of the Methuen Board of Trade and the American Legion post 122. Mr. Martineau enjoyed many cruises with his wife Matilda. He looked forward to playing 45's during the holidays with his family and friends, loved his motor home and enjoyed spending summers at 3 Ponds Campground in Brentwood, NH. Mr. Martineau enjoyed attending tow truck shows with his grandsons and would socialize with everyone he met. He was well known by the family members for attending weddings and at the receptions he would don masks or pull other pranks. He loved his dogs and sadly missed his Cairn Terrier Miko who passed in October 2010. Mr. Martineau, son of the Late Apollinaire and Florida (Cote) Martineau and Brother of the late Fernande Roberts and Lucien Martineau, he is survived by :

Raymond Martineau and his wife Bonnie of Methuen
Ronald Martineau and his wife Lisa of Salem, NH
6 Grandsons: Ryan, Justin, Derek, Shawn, Zachary, and Andrew
1 Great-grandson Nathan
1 Sister-in-Law: Theresa Martineau of Methuen
there are several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Theresa Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family and Friends are invited to call on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St. Methuen.
