Obituary

Maureen Denise (McGah)Slater-D'Amico 76, died on Friday, January 7, 2011 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with her family by her side. She was born on November 11, 1934 in Boston to the late Mary I. (Slater) and Robert J. Ryan.

Maureen was a long time resident of Charlestown, later moving to Westfield. While in Westfield, she was very active in The Sons of Erin, The Westfield Women's Club and The Little Theater groups. She attended Boston Girls Latin School and went on to graduate from Holyoke Community College and Westfield State College where she earned a BS/BA Degree in accounting in 1984. Maureen retired from her position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Revenue, where she worked for many years in the Child Support Enforcement Division.


Maureen is the devoted mother of Damon D'Amico and his wife Maria of East Longmeadow, David D'Amico of Miami, Florida and Denise D'Amico and her husband Eric Ouellette of Westfield. She is the loving grandmother of Meaghan, Joseph and Damon D'Amico, Siobhan Hebda, Caitlyn Hebda Williams, Jon and Josh Ouellette and her great-grandson; Andrew Williams. She is the beloved sister of the late Margaret Rooney of Georgia.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Maureen's Funeral on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Cremation will take place following the funeral mass. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m.
