In Taunton, December 1, 2010 William “Bill” George Martin 68, husband of Margaret (McRae) Martin, passed away after a lengthy period of declining health. Born in Taunton, Bill was the son of the late Joseph Frederick Sweeney and Ruth (Quillen) Dean. He was the brother of the late Alfred Martin and Brenda (Martin) LaBerge. Bill was educated in the Taunton Schools and lived in Taunton for his entire life. He was employed as a Maintenance technician for the former Haskon/Burke Industries for over forty years. Bill enjoyed sports, maintaining his property, long distance bicycling with his wife, and most of all his grandchildren. After retirement Bill took his grand parenting responsibilities to heart, walking them to school and teaching them the value of a dollar. He was very outgoing and sociable person who enjoyed all people. In addition to his wife Margaret (Peggy) he is survived by his children, William Martin Jr. of Taunton, Deirdre Martin of Raynham, David Martin of Tallahassee, Fl, Jeff Adamczyk of Taunton and his six grandchildren Chelsey Raposa of Raynham, Zachary Martin of Taunton, Alysha Adamczyk of Taunton, Matthew and Tyler Martin of Tallahassee, Fl, Tauri Adamczyk of Taunton and several nieces and nephews. In spite of a lengthy illness Bill bounced back to his jovial self every time his body let him. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton, Monday, December 6th at 8 AM. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in East Taunton at 9 AM. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 pm. Interment Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
