Worcester - Carleton E. Cooper, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, September 4, 2010. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 37 years, Janet L. (Clark) Cooper in 2003. He leaves his son Corey J. Cooper and his girlfriend Kimberly Boyle of Worcester; a daughter W. Katie Dickinson and her husband David of Worcester; a close family friend, Lisa Flanagan of Grafton; a brother, Clyde Cooper of Worcester; two sisters Gladys Mountain of West Brookfield and Susan Thibeault of Worcester; two grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Cooper.
Carleton was born in Worcester, a son of Elmer H. Cooper and Bertha Gene (Smith) Cooper. He graduated from Leicester High School in 1958. Carleton proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War and reached the rank of Sergeant in the Infantry, receiving numerous decorations - including the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. He worked in the Ceramics Division at Saint-Gobain (Norton), retiring in 2008. He was a car enthusiast and loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be private.
