TAUNTON - Flora “Nana” (Perry) Burgo, 88 of Taunton, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2010 at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton after a lengthy illness.
She was the loving life partner of Joseph R. Andrade of Taunton, and the wife of the late Frank Burgo.
Born in Freetown, the daughter of the late John J. and Pauline (Pina Neves) Perry, she was educated in Taunton Schools and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church.
A devoted mother and grandmother to six generations, Ms. Burgo was a member of the Cape Verdean Club, and enjoyed Cape Verdean dancing, fishing, cooking, family gatherings and bingo.
She was also an avid collector of elephant figurines.
She leaves 11 children, Maryann Monteiro, Chris Burgo, Wayne Burgo, Danny Burgo, Flora “Pinky” Burgo, Priscilla Burgo and Joseph J. Andrade-Burgo, all of Taunton, Robert Burgo of E. Taunton, Frank Burgo of Brockton, Jenny “Jean” Pina of E. Freetown, and John Burgo, of Falmouth; 4 sisters, Julia Pina and Jean Barros, both of Taunton, Dorothy Barros of E. Taunton and Margaret Barboza of New Bedford, 42 grandchildren; 75 great grandchildren; 28 great-great grandchildren; 1 great-great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Alfred, Sherry and James Burgo, and the sister of the late John, Alfred, Frank, George, Jack, William, Robert, Roger and Leo Perry, and Christine Reaves.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, July 7th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
