William Monteiro, 69, of New Bedford died Sunday October 26, 2003 at Kristen Beth Nursing Home after a brief illness.
Born in Wareham, the son of the late Egidie S. and Fannie (Santos) Monteiro, he had lived in Wareham and New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Monteiro was formerly employed as a landscaper.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include 3 sons, Leonard Monteiro of New Bedford, Dale Monteiro of North Providence, RI, and William Monteiro, Jr., of Pawtucket, RI; 2 daughters, Stephanie Monteiro of Fall River, and Dianna Collier of Florida; 3 brothers, Donald Monteiro and David Monteiro, both of Wareham, and Robert "Sonny" Monteiro of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Emily Rocha and Nancy Andrews, both of Wareham; 5 grandchildren, Kenneth Collier, Jr., Kyle Collier, Stefanie Collier, William Benevides, III, and Ariel Benevides; and many nieces and nephews.He was the brother of the late Manuel Monteiro, Millard Monteiro, Dorothy Jorge and Anthony Monteiro.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 29, 2003 at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday October 28, 2003 from 6-8 PM.
