Obituary

Luigi “Jiggs” DAMIANO, 96, of North Bay Manor in Smithfield, formerly of Hawthorne Place in North Providence, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Mary (DiMaio) Damiano. They were married for 65 years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Camillo and Carmella (Tasca) Damiano. He lived in North Providence for 25 years before moving to Smithfield.

Mr. Damiano was the president and owner of Damiano Industries Inc., and Fabricating shop in Providence for 60 years until his retirement in 2007.
Some of his work included ornamental iron work for Waterplace Park, the gates at the entrance to Providence College and bridge railings that span most of the interstate in RI and New England.

He is also survived by his brothers, Roy Damiano of Cranston, George Damiano of Providence and Alfred Damiano of Miami, Florida.
