HOLMES, Dorothy M. (Wright) of Wellesley formerly of Auburndale, March 30, 2010. Devoted mother of William H. Holmes and his wife Judith of Tewksbury, Ronald A. Holmes of Natick, Thomas E. Holmes and his fiancé Pamela J. Blake of Blackstone, Carolyn M. Carney and her husband John of Franklin. Long time companion, for 40 years, of Gino Bastanza of Scituate. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Sister of Lillian Asciukiewicz of Framingham and Joan Harding of Hudson, and the late Barbara Heckman and Joseph Wright.
Dorothy was born on April 17, 1927. Dorothy enjoyed going to bingo every Monday with her sisters Lillian and Joan. She retired from the state of Massachusetts after more than 20 years of service in the research and material division. Dorothy lived in Wellesley for 53 years and often worked at the polls during elections. She enjoyed tending to her garden and spoiling her family. Dorothy worshiped at St. Paul’s in Wellesley and was a long time member of St. James before it closed a few years ago. She liked to be surrounded by family especially during to holidays. Traveling was one of her passions and her trip to Ireland was one of the highlights of her life. Her life story is filled with peaks and valleys which she wasn’t afraid to talk about. Dorothy was an inspiration to many, and the people that surrounded her and now she is resting in peace.
