She graduated from Sturdy Memorial School of Nursing, Attleboro, Mass. in 1945 and continued her affiliation with Sturdy Hospital for over 40 years until retirement. She had planned her retirement to coincide with her husbands who worked for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad also for over 40 years. In the closing days of World War II she did nursing at Myles Standish Military Camp and Taunton State Hospital working with captured German Soldiers. Her life was filed with enjoyment of belonging to the Chartley Garden Club, the Norton Historical Society and the alumni affairs of Sturdy Hospital and the “old girls” who were her retired co-workers. Mrs. Bottomley and her late husband were active members of and belonged to the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton and for over 25 years they were members of the United Church of Marco Island , Florida where they enjoyed their winter retirement.
