Eve D. Beckel, 86 Dateline: Attleboro, MA Eve D. (Lindsley) Beckel, 86, of Canterbury Woods in Attleboro formerly of Norton and Florida passed away on Tuesday March 9, 2010 in the presence of her loving family at home. She was the beloved wife of George W. Beckel to whom she was wed on January 14, 1994 and the late Robert O’Reilly and the late William F. Oskay. Born in Oswego, New York on May 18, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Florence D. (Caulkins) Lindsley. Eve grew up in Oswego, was educated in Oswego schools and was a graduate of Oswego High School. In addition to being a dedicated stay home mom to here family, she also worked at the Cerebral Palsy Center in Kingston, NY where she developed and taught at the Therapeutic Pre-School and created avenues for handicapped children to play and learn. A resident of Attleboro for the past year she had formerly lived in Port Charlotte for 25 years and after Hurricane Charlie destroyed her home in 2004 she and her husband George moved back to Norton to be closer to family. The lived in Norton for 6 years till recently residing at Canterbury Woods in Attleboro While living in Florida she was a member of the Harbor Heights Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and operated the church thrift shop. She was also a member of the Port Charlotte Cultural Center and enjoyed participating in fashion shows and dance productions. Eve was multitalented, creative and enthusiastic and could be best described as a leader and motivator. She was a loving and giving person and despite medical problems she continued her life always with a smile, warm hugs and a cheerful disposition. Mrs. Beckel was the coordinator of the Aqua size program for the Arthritis Foundation where she taught exercise, dance and good old fun and received many awards for services rendered. While residing in Florida Eve was also a member of the Happy Villagers “Kitchen Band” that entertained at various nursing homes and assisted living centers. She loved flowers and floral arranging and sharing her gifts with others. She had a special closeness with nature and especially liked things pertaining to singing, choirs, music and dance. Eve will be dearly missed by her adoring family and to all who had the pleasure of being in her company. In addition to her beloved husband of 16 years she is survived by her devoted children Carole A. Cord and her husband Raymond, Jr. of Norton, William H. Oskay and his wife Jacqueline of Corbett, Oregon and Ronald F. Oskay of Chimacum, Washington. She was the cherished grandmother of Raymond Cord, III, Robert Cord, Windell Oskay, Lauren Oskay and Kim Oskay and is also survived by her great grandchildren Brandon Cord, Emily Cord, Garrett Cord, Gavin Cord, Griffin Cord and Angela Houle. A memorial mass, will be celebrated at a later date and time to be announced in St. Mary’s Church in Norton. Burial will be private and visiting hours have been omitted.
