SALEM - David R. Robichaud, 70, husband of the late Carol J. (Welenc) Robichaud, formerly of Seabrook, NH, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers.
Born in Salem, he was the son of Eugene L. Robichaud of Seabrook, NH and the late May J. (Kennedy) Robichaud and was a resident of Salem until moving to Seabrook, NH in 1993. He recently returned to Massachusetts to reside with and be cared for by his daughter, Karen.
Mr. Robichaud Served in the United States Marines in the late 1950's to the early 1960's. He later entered the Army National Guard, where he served on active duty with the 102nd Field Artillery at the Salem Armory for many years and later was assigned to the Danvers Armory until his retirement in 1990 at the rank of Sergeant First Class, with over 21 years of service.
Prior to his Army enlistment, Mr. Robichaud was employed at the United Shoe in Beverly and in the leather industry in Peabody. In his retirement years, he worked as a service writer at the Danvers Motor Company. He was also a welder and a machinist.
Besides his father, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Karen L. Crane-Poland and Edward Poland of Lynn and Marc D. and Kellie Robichaud of Salem, a daughter-in-law, Diana LeGault of Seabrook, NH, seven grandchildren, Christopher Crane, Kaitlyn Crane, Timothy Crane, Jeffrey Robichaud, Michael Robichaud, Nicholas Robichaud, Amanda Lathrop, a great grandchild Kiera Lathrop, one sister, Linda Robichaud of Seabrook, NH and many nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Peter J. Robichaud and brother of the late James Robichaud.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 9 AM from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at the St. James Church, 156 Federal St, Salem. Visiting hours are Friday, 4 to 8 pm. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
