Anne G. (Edmed) Sweeney, 84 years of Brockton died Sunday October 4, 2009 surrounded by her family at her son and daughter in law’s home in West Barnstable. A lifelong resident of Brockton, she was the wife of the late John E. Sweeney and daughter of the late Harry W. and Anne M. (Samuelson) Edmed. Anne was a graduate of Brockton High School and had been employed as a secretary and librarian at the Brockton High School for many years. Anne had been very involved with the Spring Musicals at the High School, was active in the Brockton Garden Club, where she learned her love of flowers, enjoyed traveling, spending summers with her family in North Falmouth, Broadway Shows, the Symphony and Bowling at Maple Alleys. For many years she had been on the Board of Trustees at the Brockton Public Library.
She is survived by her son, Sean E. Sweeney and his wife Jane of W. Barnstable; a cousin Louise W. Quagge of Brockton and several nieces and nephews and was the sister of the late Harriett E. Hamilton. Sean and Jane would like to extend special thanks to Anne’s Caregivers, Janice, Ann, Irene, Cathie, Nancy and Kim.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West Street, Brockton at 9am. Burial in Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm. Donations in memory of Anne may be made to the Charity of One’s Choice.
