BEVERLY: S. Jack Steinberg, 78, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 in the Salem Hospital following an extended illness. He was the husband of Lillian M. (Morse) Steinberg.
Born in Boston on May 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose (Goldberg) Steinberg. He has resided in Beverly for the past forty-five years. He was a graduate of Huntington Prep School in Boston, attended Northeastern University, and received his B.S. Degree from the Boston University College of Business Administration and his Master’s Degree in Education at Boston College. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Steinberg taught business in the Lynn public school system for over thirty years before retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Teamsters Union Local #25. Active in Masonic circles, he was also a member of the Golden Fleece Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Lynn and the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington. He also enjoyed driving for the Peter Pan Bus Lines for several years and his membership in both the Beverly and Danvers Y.M.C.A.
In addition to his beloved wife of forty-nine years, he is survived by three sons, Robert W. Steinberg of Quincy, Dana M. Steinberg of Essex Junction, VT and Alan J. Steinberg of Beverly, two sisters, Elaine Gross of Rohnert Park, CA and Sandra Steinberg-Guerrero and her husband, Mario of Tamarac, FL, three brothers-in-law, Albert and his wife, Rosamond Morse of Beverly, Kenneth and his wife, Kathy Morse of South Hadley and Eugene and his wife, Helen Morse of Alma, CO, two sisters-in-law, Marlene and her husband, Frank Sanger of Bakersfield, CA and April and her husband, the Rev. Dick Gray of Manchester, NH and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Shriner’s Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
