Theus M. Givens, 92, of Summerville, died Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born November 19, 1916 in Walterboro, he was the son of the David Nicholas and Rosa Breland Givens. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and owner of the KATM Sewing Center. He was a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Charleston. He was a devoted member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Katherine P. Givens of Summerville; 2 sons Ronnie M. Givens of Summerville and James B. Henderson and wife Pam of Summerville; grandchildren Susan McMillan of Summerville, Dr. Ron Givens and wife Alice of Mt. Pleasant, Gina Henderson of Summerville, Wendy Childers and husband Mark of Goose Creek, Amanda Holtsberry and husband Perry of Ladson, Buffy Hicks of St. George, and Tony Johnson of St. George; great grandchildren Kinsey and Reeves McMillan of Summerville, Austin and Walker Givens of Mt. Pleasant, Hunter and Kursten Pelham of Goose Creek , and Ashton Henderson of Summerville; a brother, Edward Givens and wife Evelyn of Durham, NC; a sister; Earldean Kelly of Walterboro, and many more loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marian P. Givens of Dorchester; a sister, Katherine Mills of Walterboro, and a daughter in law, Sue Reeves Givens.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 4 o’clock at Bethany United Methodist Church, Summerville. Friends may visit at the church from 2 o’clock until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Road, Summerville.
