Holden – Sophia (Chiantes) James, 85, of Holden died on Sunday, June 7th in the Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
Sophia is survived by her three children Chris James of New Zealand, Cynthia Saffron Landers of Holden, and Paul James and his wife Karen of Paxton; two sisters Olga Haritakis of Stuart, FL and Helen Lykopoulos of Brooklyn, NY; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY daughter of the late Peter and Christine Chiantes and is predeceased by a sister Pauline Legakis. Sophia enjoyed playing bingo and cards as well as day trips.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday June 9th from 6 to 8 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester. Funeral services and burial will be held privately in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holden Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund 32 Mayo Drive Holden, MA 01520.
