Obituary

John P. Devine, 75, of Pound Road, Chepachet, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of Gertrude K. (Walther) Devine. They were married 51 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John and Grace (Lawson) Devine, he lived in Glocester most of his life.

Mr. Devine was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner of the Northeast Sign Co., Glocester Boat Sales and the Yankee Stove Shop. He was a former member and president of the Glocester Lions and was a member of the Glocester Republican Town Committee and former member of the Jaycees.

He is also survived by sons, Dennis D. of Clearwater, Florida and Douglas M. Devine of Glocester and four grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Amanda Paquin and brother of the late Charles Delahanty.

Funeral service Thursday at 11:30am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation 10:00-11:00AM. Burial in Acotes Hill Cemetery.
