Mary T. (Stramondo) Sapienza, 92, a resident of the Grace Morgan House in Methuen, MA., passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Born in Lawrence, MA to the late Antonio and Maria Rosa (Contarino) Stramondo, she was baptized and married at Holy Rosary Church and educated in the Lawrence schools. She worked at Stramondo's Bakery, Grieco's and in both the Lawrence and Haverhill RMV offices.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred F. Sapienza in 1989 and brothers, C. Joseph, Angelo, and Vito. In 1990 she moved to Burlington, MA, where she enjoyed being closer to family and volunteering at the Senior Center.
She is survived by: daughters, Mary L. Sapienza of Dover, NH, and Rosemarie, wife of Edward Gaffny II of Salem, NH. Grandchildren: Gregory Bebezas and his wife Corrie and great-grandson Jakob of Magnolia, MA, Krista Bebezas and Alexi Bebezas of Burlington, MA.
Siblings: Rose D'Agostino of Lawrence, MA, Salvatore Stramondo and his wife Nazarene of Andover, MA.: In-laws, Camille and Helen Stramondo and Joseph Sapienza; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and god-children.
Mary had a special gift for making and keeping friends, all of whom will miss her greatly.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence, MA. Entombment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Chapel Mausoleum, also in Lawrence.
