Mildred F. (Rogers) Murphy, 85 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Saturday morning at the Tewksbury State Hospital. She was the widow of the late John F. Murphy Sr. who died in 1995.
Born in Lowell on August 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Elizabeth (Maroney) Rogers and was educated in the Lowell schools.
Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo and bowling. She was also extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Murphy was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter in law, Robert J. Murphy of Methuen and David M. Murphy and his wife Laurie of Lowell; five daughters and a son in law, Mary E. Dinsmore and her husband Vincent, Barbara A. Murphy, Maureen Swensley, Joan Ilg and her companion Robert MacDonald and Ann F. Murphy all of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Mark and Michael Dinsmore, Kristen Jordan, Derek Ilg, Julianne, Elise, Jonathan, Tessa and Peter Murphy; six great grandchildren, Madison, Isabella, Brady, Hailey and Hope Dinsmore and Oliver Ilg; a brother in law, Thomas and his wife Pricilla Murphy of Florida; a sister in law, Helen Murphy of Lowell and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Murphy was also the mother of the late John F. Murphy Jr. and James Murphy and sister of the late Dorothy Rogers and Evelyn Looney.
MURPHY- Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 3 until 7 pm at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 NESMITH ST. (Rte 38). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 9 am at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to the Building Fund of the Immaculate Conception Church, 3 Fayette Street, Lowell, MA. 01852.
