TAUNTON – Daniel A. Borges, the husband of Mary A. (Ferreira) Borges, died at his home on Jan. 18, 2008.
He was 72.
Born in Santa Maria, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria L. (Andrade) Borges.
A molder by trade, he was a former co-owner of Babs Foundry, Inc. in Norton for many years until retiring in 1992.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was a board member and past president of the Taunton Eagles Soccer Club, and member of the Taunton Eagles Holy Ghost Society and the Bridgewater Holy Ghost Society.
He enjoyed soccer and hunting.
Besides his wife, he leaves 2 sons, Michael A. Borges and Daniel A. Borges and is wife Paula, all of Taunton; 2 brothers, Louis A. Borges and his wife Julietta of Springhill, FL and Antonio A. Borges and his wife Kathy of Taunton; 3 sisters, Zenalia B. Sousa and Margaret B. Grimaldi and her husband Donato, all of Taunton, and Juliana B. Sousa and her husband Joseph of Springhill, FL; 5 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Steven Borges.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Saturday, Jan. 24th at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be on Friday, Jan. 23rd from 5 to 8 p.m.
