Genevieve A. Biron, 82, of Myette St., Woonsocket, died Thursday evening surrounded by her loving family at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Amedee Biron, to whom she was married on Nov. 11, 1948, and who died in 2001.
Born in Fall River, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Dulak) Pietras. She was raised in Lonsdale, and was a Woonsocket resident for most of her life.
Mrs. Biron was employed by Miller Electric for over 25 years before retiring in 1991.
Mrs. Biron was a longtime communicant of St. Agatha’s Church and a member of St. Agatha’s Seniors Club. She enjoyed gardening and bingo. Genevieve was devoted to her family and cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by a son, Steven N. Biron, and his wife Rachel, of North Smithfield, two daughters, Karen Ann Deragon, and her husband Robert, and Christine Biron, of Woonsocket, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She was the sister of Walter Pietras, of Pawtucket, and the late Charles and Stanley Pietras, Stella Martel, Helen Ostrowski, and Anna Stegnicki-Milos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be Monday at 9:00 am from the Menard Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave., Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Agatha Church, Joffre Ave., Woonsocket.
