Andover, MA – Attorney Donald J. Cregg, Sr. 87, died November 11, 2008 at Woodbriar of Wilmington.
Attorney Cregg was born in Methuen ,son of Hugh A. and Winnifred Gerrin ) Cregg. He graduated from Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen and later Duke University. He served his country in World War II in the United States Navy . After the war, Mr. Cregg returned to Durham North Carolina and received a degree from Duke University Law School.
Following law school, he assisted his father Hugh Cregg, the District Attorney of Essex County and later practiced law with his father and son at Cregg and Cregg.
A wonderful dad and grandfather Attorney Cregg was the widower of Alice (Morton) Cregg.
He was a devoted father and father-in-law to Alan M. and his wife Bethann (Hunt) Cregg, of Andover, and Donald J. Cregg, Jr. and his wife Marjorie (Gilmore) Cregg, a brother Hugh A. Cregg of Washington State a sister Natalie Ballard of North Andover, three grandchildren Samuel, Alexander and Hannah as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in Saint Augustines Church in Andover with burial to follow in Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street of Methuen.
