Belmira R. "Bella" (Abreu) Grady passed away November 5th, at the Winchester Nursing Center following a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Grady.
Bella was a life long resident of Woburn. She graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1940, and over the years she was very active with the class reunion committee. Bella worked for many years as a cashier at the Purity Supreme in Winchester and also at Nick's Supermarket in Woburn. Following her retirement, Bella continued to stay active and was a very popular volunteer at the George I. Clapp School lunch program. Bella enjoyed people and loved taking her daily walks to Woburn Center to do some shopping and to talk with friends she would come across along the way. Bella was mostly a devoted mother and grandmother and through many hardships in her life she continued to be a wonderful provider for her family.
In addition to her husband Michael, she was predeceased by her daughter, Ann Marie Duncan and her late husband Wade Duncan, three sons, John Grady and twins Paul and Alan Grady. She is also predeceased by her grandson, Kevin Grady, brothers, Manuel, Anthony, Jay and George Abreu, and her sister Mary Balesteri.
She is survived by her son Michael J. Grady Jr. and his wife Patty of Somerville. She is also survived by six loving grandchildren and three loving great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Natalie Macinanti and brother John Abreu both of Woburn and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bella's funeral service will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, on Monday, November 10th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the St. Charles Church 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bella's memory to the charity of one’s choice
