Roland J. Boisjoly Sr. age 77 of Salem, NH, died Wednesday at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Lawrence, MA, where he grew up and attended schools. He was a resident of Salem for the past 44 years, formerly of Lawrence.
Mr. Boisjoly was a retired Engineer for Avco in Wilmington, MA.
Roland was an avid model airplane builder and flyer, and belonged to several clubs. He was an amazing builder, building all of his planes form scratch, cutting every piece from balsa wood and tooling his own aluminum. He was selected to build a 1/3 scale plane that now sits at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. He really devoted his life to building and teaching those who wanted to learn. He was well loved and will be missed by many people.
Roland was predeceased by his Wife Rita Lucille (Drouin) Boisjoly

Daughter: Barbara Boisjoly of Salem, NH
His Companion: Heidi Langlois of Salem, NH
Sister: Claire Johnson of Lawrence, MA

Calling hours will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 AM- 12 Noon at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. Private interment will be in the Eternal Light Mausoleum, Salem, NH.
