Dr. Albert E. Cangiano

Albert E. Cangiano, DMD, a life-long Medford resident and dentist, died at home on Monday morning in the company of his loving family. He was 87.

Mr. Cangiano was born and raised in Medford, the son of the late Frank and the late Margaret (Sacco) Cangiano. A graduate of Medford High’s class of 1939, Albert attended Northeastern University and graduated from Tufts University School a Dental Medicine in 1945. He served in the Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade at Norfolk Naval Air Station in Virginia. In 1947 he opened his practice in Medford and served the families of Medford for over 50 years. Dr. Cangiano was committed to the care of his patients throughout his long career and was a member of the Massachusetts Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He was a life-long communicant at Saint Joseph Parish. Most of all he was devoted to his family, his wife of 62 years, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of Malvena (MacDonnell) Cangiano. He was a devoted father to Malvena Baxter and her former husband Wilfred of Andover, Pamela Johnson and her husband Thomas of Hanover, Linda Garvey and her former husband Timothy of Medford, Barbara Voss and her husband Francis of Andover, Albert Cangiano, Jr and his wife Maryjane of Medford and the late Maryjane Cangiano. He was the loving grandfather of Joanna Baxter, Bethany Self, Theresa Fritz, Leah Johnson, Katherine McGonagle, Patrick Garvey, Eric Voss, Julia, Laura, Mark, Daniel, Albert Cangiano and the late Stephen Baxter. He was a loving great-grandfather of James McGonagle. He was the dear brother of Florence Carpenito, Helen Alpers, Frank and Thomas Cangiano, the late Phyllis Carpinella, Michael, Emmanuel, George and Ernest Cangiano.

His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family, Wednesday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
