Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Robert J. McIntyre, 72, died peacefully, Sunday, September 7, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of Catherine A. (Sinopoli) McIntyre.
Born in East Boston on September 22, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Jackson) McIntyre. He resided in East Boston for many years before moving to Gloucester fifty-one years ago. Bob was a graduate of the Boston Technical High School class of 1954 and the Franklin Technical Institute class of 1957.
He was employed as a design draftsman at Sylvania in Ipswich and Danvers for fifteen years. He had also once worked in environmental services at the Addison Gilbert Hospital. Bob enjoyed woodworking, gardening, bird-watching, clamming and fishing in his spare time.
In addition to his wife of fifty-one years, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Rene L. McIntyre and Christine T. and David B. Sidon, a grandson, Samuel T. Murray all of Gloucester, two brothers, John and his wife, Gail McIntyre and Daniel and his wife, Robin McIntyre all of East Boston, a nephew, John and his wife, Debra McIntyre and their children, Julia and Jack McIntyre all of Winthrop. He is also survived by the Jackson and Sinopoli families and his beloved dog, “Willy.”
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13th in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Food Pantry, 28 Emerson Ave., Gloucester, MA 01930.
