Obituary

MANCHESTER-BY-THE-SEA: Hilary F. Dombrowski, Sr., 81, formerly of Newport Park, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, in the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Salem on January 1, 1927, he was the son of the late Marion and Sophie (Wronkowski) Dombrowski. He was a graduate of Salem High School and had been a resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea for most of his life.
He was a former member of the Merchant Marine, having served during World War II. A carpenter by trade, he was self-employed and worked in the Cape Ann area for many years until his retirement in 1992. Mr. Dombrowski was also a fifty-year member of The Manchester Lodge, A.F. & A.M.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Hilary F., Jr. and Barbara (Jones) Dombrowski, two daughters and a son-in-law, Gretchen Gonzales and Sigrid and Michael Ryan, three grandchildren, Kirk Dombrowski, husband of Colleen Syron, Erik, husband Janelle Dombrowski and Kristin, wife of John Braz, and eight great-grandchildren, Isaac, Benjamin, Kaitlyn and Chelsea Braz, Nathanial and Elizabeth Dombrowski, and Evan and Bailey Dombrowski. He was also predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Hilda and James Tate.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday evening, July 1st in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 6 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Friends of the Council on Aging, c/o Manchester Town Hall, 10 Central St., Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA 01944.
