Jesup-Beatrice “Bea” Charbonneau, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jesup, and had been living in Savannah for the past few years. She was a member of the Jesup First United Methodist Church.
She was a graduate of Valdosta State; taking time away from college during World War II to work in the personnel office at Glynco Naval Air Station. She was a teacher for 28 years, beginning her teaching career in Screven, and taught history in the middle schools of Jesup.
She enjoyed the arts, especially painting and creating stained glass. She was very fond of her coastal Georgia home and cherished her time there.
Mrs. Charbonneau is survived by a son Harry Charbonneau and wife Sandy of West Lafayette, Indiana, David Charbonneau and wife Keena of Savannah, Sue Anderson and companion Junior Burckhalter of Glennville, and Frank Charbonneau of New Kent, Virginia; five grandchildren : Michelle Lane, Jonathan Anderson and Capri Anderson all of Jesup; Ryan Charbonneau and Kelly Charbonneau both of Savannah.
Five great-grandchildren and a cousin Sara North of Jesup also survive.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 P.M at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 11:00 A.M. at the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel with Reverend Julian Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at the Jesup City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Robert McCall, Tommy James Jr., Steve Caphton, Gary Moody, Charles Nichols and Donnie Anderson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas James Sr. Grady Henry, Billy Jo Lane Sr., David Hirvela and Bud Collins.
